A Message to the Malakoff ISD Community: Transition and Moving Forward Together

Malakoff ISD family, we want to share an important update regarding our district's leadership. Our Superintendent, Dr. PJ Winters, has accepted a new professional position outside of our area and has submitted his resignation, effective Friday, September 4, 2026.

In his letter to the Board of Trustees, Dr. Winters shared a reflection on life's unexpected turns, writing, "I have often heard it said that if you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans. More often than not, when I have shared my plans with Him, He has responded by redirecting my path in ways I never anticipated." He expressed deep gratitude for his four years here, adding, "It has been a privilege to serve the Malakoff community... I wish the district, its staff, students, and community continued success."

The District thanks Dr. Winters for his dedication to the District, and we wish him and his family the best in their future endeavors.

We want to firmly reassure our parents, staff, and students that Malakoff ISD remains strong, unified, and deeply stable. Change can bring questions, but our daily focus on your children will not waver. Our community and our staff are, and always will be, our district's absolute greatest asset.

Our school board is already actively working on a smooth transition plan. We will host a special called business meeting this coming Monday, August 31, 2026, at 6:00 PM to finalize these next steps. We are entirely committed to keeping you informed every step of the way as we move forward together into a bright future.
Thank you for your continued trust, support, and dedication to Tiger Nation.

Malakoff ISD Board President
